So this week, being the first week back, we decided to have an official downtime window where we could break stuff without users moaning on the understanding that this would reduce the amount of unexpected outages in the next few months. What a stupid idea that was. We've spent the entire week lurching from one crisis to another. And IBM support is ridiculously obtuse. Customer numbers, FRUs, PMRs, SWMAs, the list never ends. Still it looks like things will eventually all work but I'm going for more unscheduled outages in the future instead of cramming everything into one week.
In other news I went to a Christmas Homecoming last night for a friend who has been living in New Zealand for the last two years odd. It was good to meet up with people I hadn't seen in ages and also good to leave the Russell Court without being completely twisted. My only beef is with the name - it's January so Xmas is done and dusted and the guy is heading to the US today and then back to NZ so it should really be a New Year Homeleaving or some such.
